Our Partnership ETHOS
At Kingswood we embrace differing family dynamics and use the term 'family' to represent parents, carers, grandparents, step and blended family members. We recognise that you are your child’s first and most important educator. All children need to be guided by their families and we therefore aim to work in partnership with you to ensure each child at Kingswood is supported and helped towards becoming a successful learner.
We aim to ensure that all our families have access to:
- Regular newsletters to inform you of events taking place in school
- Regular ‘Open Sessions’ to see the curriculum in action, for you to play alongside your child and gather ideas to continue the learning at home
- Online ‘Learning Journals’ as a means of sharing your child’s achievements at home with school
- School’s website with information about activities and guidance
- Informative workshops to support your understanding of Early Learning and how to support this at home
- One Page Profiles which provide a summary of your child's achievements over time
Every child is important to us here at Kingswood; you entrust us with your most precious people on a daily basis, and no concern is too small. We have an open door policy; a member of staff is available to speak with on a daily basis. We will facilitate conversations that may require a confidential space, or longer amount of time as quickly as possible.
For many families joining Kingswood, it is often the first time they have experienced leaving their child in the care of someone else, which can raise feelings of vulnerability and confusion. Many concerns can be addressed, and actioned quickly, following a conversation. We encourage positive, and respectful feedback, which is best communicated through reasoned discussion.
Please talk to us about any aspect of your child’s welfare, well-being, family circumstances or development; by working together the results will have a positive impact on your child’s happiness and learning.
You will be expected to read, understand, and abide by our Home School Agreement before your child starts school. All families are asked to agree with this.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. If we have any concern that a child has been harmed, or is at risk of harm, then we are obliged to share our concerns with the appropriate safeguarding bodies.
