Nursery Admissions

We would encourage you to come and visit Kingswood to see all that we have to offer to help you decide the right setting for your child.

Our Nursery School offers places for 3-4 year olds. All children are entitled to 15 hours free education the term after their 3rd birthday.

Kingswood offer this entitlement, term time only, for 38 weeks of the year. Children will be offered 5 mornings (8:30-11:30am) or 4 afternoon sessions, Monday to Thursday (12-3pm) and a Friday morning (8:30-11:30am).

This ensures continuity for your child so that they can work with their Key Person, make friends with others in their group and have a balanced curriculum over the week. Families do have the option to extend their child’s free funded hours by paying additional fees for lunch sessions and extended care hours (subject to availability).

Working families - for children aged 9 months to 4 years

From September 2025, 15 hours for eligible working families will expand to 30 hours, meaning eligible working parents can now apply for 30 hours of childcare from the term after their child turns 9 months until they reach school age.

If you currently receive 15 hours for working families, just reconfirm as usual and the code will work for the 30 hours offer in September, providing you remain eligible and your provider has confirmed your new attendance pattern for your increased hours.

Families who meet the criteria will receive 30 hours free childcare for their child; Monday to Thursday 8:30am–3pm and Friday 8:30am-12:30pm.

How do I make an application to Kingswood Nursery School?

Herts County Council no longer provide an online system for Nursery applications. Instead, families need to apply directly to the setting of their choice.
