About Us

Kingswood Nursery School is a unique and special place with a wonderful community spirit, which is responsible for providing quality Early Education for children aged two to four years, during term time.

Our Hertfordshire Maintained Nursery School was established at Kingswood in 1942 to care for young children whose mothers were part of the war effort – mainly working in the local munitions factories.

After the war, Kingswood Nursery School continued to provide nursery education for children aged under 5 in the community. We established an excellent reputation locally, with generation upon generation of the same families attending.

Preschool

Our Preschool is our provision for two and three year olds.

Nursery

Our Nursery is our provision for three and four year olds. Typically, children spend the year here before they enter Reception class, and statutory school, in our Nursery. This is the academic year (1st September to 31st August) in which they turn 4.

What can we offer?

• 15 hours free early education for children accessing 2 year free funding or Working Families Funding
• 15 hours free early education for all children the term after their third birthday
• 30 hours free early education for children of working parents    (8:30am – 3pm Monday to Thursday & 8:30am – 12:30pm on a Friday)
• Lunch sessions (subject to availability and extra fee for non 30 hrs children)
• Options to purchase additional hours (subject to availability)
• We accept childcare vouchers and payments from the HMRC tax free childcare payment scheme
• All practice is underpinned by the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Safeguarding and the welfare of all children in school is a priority and we expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. If we have any concern that a child has been harmed, or is at risk of harm, then we are obliged to share our concerns with the appropriate safeguarding bodies.

We nurture values of aspiration at Kingswood; a reflection, review and development cycle forms part of our practice, and we are held accountable by our Governing Body, the local authority and DfE legislation.
